Wireless works just like walkie-talkies, what ever you "say" on a wireless network can be "heard" by all the computers around you. They can easily pick up your names, passwords, emails, and websites you visit!!
Whitney: Tell us How they work in simple terms if it's so simple and easy to break into, how do those wireless networks work?
Wifi Security Guy: Sure, the easiest example I have is the CB or walkie-talkie. I'm sure you had walkie-talkies in the past maybe when you were a kid or when it was a fad 10 years ago. When you went to the mall and split up in different groups and used a walkie-talkie to keep in touch with your different groups and coordinate when you're going to eat lunch together, and things like that. You may remember during those times if another group showed up that had walkie-talkies, all of the sudden you could hear their conversation. It works off of the same principles, whatever one transmits, all the rest of them can receive, and whatever they transmit, all the walkie-talkies in the area receive. Wireless networking is the same way, whatever your laptop transmits, all the other computers in the area can see that.
